As previous years, BRAID has played a very important role suppling high performance off-road wheels helping the teams to wining several stages and finishing the hardest rally. The final balance of the race for us is positive considering that 2 of the top 5 drivers in T1+ category used our wheels.
In order to fight for victory in all categories, BRAID has developed three new wheel models that will be included in our catalogue and presented in more detail in the coming months.
FORGED DAKAR 17”
Specially designed for T1+ category, to withstand the great demands caused by the change to 37" tires, maintaining the minimum weight determined by regulations at 12.0 kg.
Bahrain Raid Xtreme team, with their Hunter T1+ developed with Prodrive, used these wheels winning 3 of the 12 stages, and fighting to the end for the overall win with Sebastian Loeb.
FORGED DAKAR 6”x15”
The T3 and T4 categories are among the most participated in this Dakar. The extreme competition between the teams means that the vehicles must be very well prepared to be at the top of the classification.
To meet the needs of the most demanding teams, BRAID has developed the FORGED DAKAR 6x15 rim, which allows mounting 15" tires while maintaining a weight of only 5.3kg, withstanding the demands of the most complicated terrains of this DAKAR.
FULLRACE B DAKAR 7"X14"
Inheriting all the experience gained over the years with the Fullrace B 7"x14", we have introduced the new FULLRACE B DAKAR 7"x14", specially designed for T3 and T4 vehicles that mount 14" tires. This rim maintains the performance of the previous Fullrace B, reducing its weight by 1.7kg.
This rim has been used by the Yamaha YXZ1000R prepared by the X-RAID team, demonstrating great reliability with a weight of only 6.4kg, an exceptional weight considering that it is a cast aluminium wheel.
WINRACE T AND FULLRACE T DAKAR
Apart from these new developments, the rest of the existing 4x4 models from our catalogue such as the WINRACE T or the FULLRACET DAKAR have also been present at this Dakar, proving once again that they can withstand the highest off-road demands.
Finally, we would like to congratulate all the teams that have been able to finish the 2022 Dakar and thank all those who have trusted BRAID for this exciting adventure. Also remember that this does not end here since this year the DAKAR is part of the FIA WORLD RALLY RAID CHAMPIONSHIP, which includes four more races. The competition will head to Abu Dhabi in March, Kazakhstan in April, Andalusia in June, and Morocco in October, setting the stage for a ferocious battle for the driver and constructor titles at stake.
